The Transamerica Pyramid has achieved the highest level of certification with LEED®-EB Platinum status.
The Pyramid received the award from the U.S. Green Building Council.
“The Transamerica Pyramid has been an icon to the city since 1972, making this accomplishment all the more notable. The Transamerica Pyramid’s LEED® team is to be commended on their efforts, as they have set the standard of what’s possible for commercial buildings in California and throughout the world,” said California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, who was instrumental in developing legislation to improve energy and resource efficiency in San Francisco.
The property owner, Transamerica Pyramid Properties, LLC, and the building management team of Jones Lang Lasalle and BuildingWise, LLC, a LEED certification consultant, were able to achieve the Platinum certification through impressive energy savings and sustainability accomplishments.
505 Sansome, a part of the Transamerica Pyramid Center, is going through the process of Platinum certification and hopes to receive its certification by the end of 2014.
Both the Transamerica Pyramid and 505 Sansome achieved Gold LEED certification in 2009.
